Borislava Taneva is a Bulgarian pianist, chamber musician and composer, laureate of international competitions in Bulgaria, Italy, Japan, Greece, Luxembourg and Norway. In 2010 she was awarded the Grand Prix Exceptionnel at the First International Composition Competition "Artists des Herbes" in Luxembourg, and in 2017 she received second prize at the Edvard Grieg Composition Competition in Oslo. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras in Bulgaria, India, Greece, Israel, Ukraine and Switzerland, and was the first Bulgarian pianist to perform the complete piano sonatas of Joseph Haydn in nine concerts. Since 1990 she has taught at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where she is currently Professor in Piano and Vice-Dean for Artistic, Creative and International Activities (2016–). She gives masterclasses and teaches as a guest faculty in Greece, Switzerland, Singapore, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy, Norway and the USA. Her major awards include the Golden Quillis Award (2014), the Crystal Lyre Award and the Musician of the Year Award of the Bulgarian National Radio (2015).
