The Duo SeRa concert invites audiences on a remarkable musical journey spanning several centuries and a wide range of countries through the distinctive soundscape of the unusual saxophone–harp duo. The journey begins in the 18th century with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s refined Sonata in a minor and Haydn’s lyrical Adagio, then we arrive on the Italian operatic stage with Rosina’s celebrated aria from Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, a brilliant showcase of the bel canto tradition. The next stop is France, where Debussy opens the door to an entirely new musical landscape. The lyrical Beau soir, the witty Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum, and the ever-popular Clair de lune reveal the delicate colours and floating harmonies of musical Impressionism. The programme then turns towards the folk traditions of Middle Europe with Bartók’s Sonatina, inspired by Romanian folk melodies. Finally, the journey reaches Argentina with selections from Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango, tracing the evolution of the famous dance genre from the lively bordellos of Buenos Aires to the modern concert stage.
