The National Youth Orchestra China was founded by businesswoman He Mei in 2017 with the aim of passing on European music culture to talented Chinese youth through significant, shared experiences. The ensemble has performed as a symphony orchestra and in smaller chamber music formations, conducted by excellent conductors, in the company of great soloists (such as Garrick Ohlsson and Yuja Wang) in European and American concert halls. During their tours, they also performed successfully at the Carnegie Hall and the Berliner Konzerthaus. NYO China is collaborating with the Liszt Academy too.
The current concert in Budapest is a symbolic achievement of the international music education. From the Chinese part are coming the most talented students from excellent music academies in Europe and in the USA, from the Hungarian part offers the Liszt Academy some exceptional talented young pianists to make great music together. The joint concert is also being prepared for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing as a musical message – a symbolic handshake of East and West.
