Composed of musicians from three different nations, Simply Quartet are one of the most promising string quartets of their generation. Members of the quartet come from China, Norway and Austria. They share the common idea, rooted in Chinese philosophy, that, to the greatest extent possible, opposites depend and complement each other. Starting from this vision of the world, they combine complexity and simplicity. They avow their musical creed thus: “As four different individuals, together we shape the unity of the string quartet, the royal genre of chamber music”. It would appear that their intentions have been attended by success since in the past few years they have achieved triumphs at top chamber competitions including the International Carl Nielsen Competition in Copenhagen, the Quatuor á Bordeaux, the Franz Schubert and the Music of Modernity competition in Graz, and the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna.
