The person who considered himself above all princes. The composer who was not prepared to serve anyone. The explorer who found all frames restrictive, be they instruments or musical forms. This is Ludwig van Beethoven, the János Irinyi (Hungarian inventor of the match) of the First Viennese School and the second inventor in the spring season of Liszt Kidz Academy. At this February matinee musicologist Dániel Mona assisted by harpsichordist Zsombor Tóth-Vajna presents the keyboard customs of Beethoven’s age, then ably illustrated with piano playing from Liszt Ferenc Prize laureate Balázs Fülei there is a review of why we can consider Beethoven to have been the first rock musician in music history, why he needed to smash the rules and why his music still affects us so deeply even today. Moonlight, passion, prayer and speeding – Beethoven knew exactly what the Liszt Kidz audience needs!
