Gianluigi Giglio (guitar)
Gianluigi Giglio is a versatile guitarist with a repertoire ranging from baroque to romantic repertoire, contemporary music and avant-garde, and is a highly acclaimed musician both as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed and recorded with the Freon Ensemble in Rome, and has participated in Pierre Boulez’s Le Marteau sans maître and the Stradivarius CD release dedicated to Franco Donatoni. He recorded Francesco Molino’s Trios, which was named the best album of 2009 by the British magazine “Classical Guitar”. A CD of music by Fernando Sor was recently released on the UK label SOMM Recordings. He is a studious of the early nineteenth-century guitar repertoire, which he demonstrates on rare period instruments such as an 1817 Fabricator, an 1834 Lacôte, an 1833 Panormo and an 1828 Guadagnini. He regularly gives masterclasses and seminars in Italy and abroad (Greece, Cyprus, Slovakia, Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Austria), especially on 19th century guitar repertoire. He is currently professor of guitar at the “G. Martucci” Conservatory (Italy).
