Attila Sztán Trombone Chamber Recital Presented by Liszt Academy

Those attending trombonist Attila Sztán’s concert will find themselves presented with a true kaleidoscope of styles. The first half of the concert features two pieces from Sequenza (‘Sequences’), an experimental series by Luciano Berio. The concert is not only for the ears but the eyes, too, because besides instrumental virtuosity, theatrical choreography is also an integral part of the works. Michael Haydn’s captivating double concerto provides a contrast to modern tonality. The premiere of Trio Why-G by Ákos Zarándy is followed by Légende by Enescu, a piece which combines lyricism and instrumental technical challenges, and this in turn makes way for humour in the shape of György Ránki’s striking parody Tales of Father Goose. An extract from the sonata of Csaba Tűzkő inspired by jazz and Balkan folk music closes the concert. Both as soloist and as member of his chamber ensembles, Attila Sztán is a familiar face at top concert venues globally and on the podiums of international competitions. He currently plays with Concerto Budapest and Budapest Festival Orchestra.
