Concerto Budapest / Mozart Day

Mozart’s music is immortal, ever-thrilling, sublime and playful, suspenseful and balanced at the same time. It has the power to touch us all, regardless of age. András Keller is well aware of this quality, as it is the fifth time that he is organizing Mozart Day with Concerto Budapest at the Liszt Academy. As he points out in a recent interview: “The purpose of Mozart Day is ‘only’ to make us all happy using this marvellous, inexhaustible musical source.” And indeed, no more preparation is necessary for this spring Sunday when we’ll have the opportunity to cherry-pick from a generous selction of Mozart compositions. Among others, we can hear his ‘Great’ Mass in C minor (which Mozart inexplicably did not complete), the cream of his symphonies, concertos and chamber music pieces. Of course, the children’s programme hosted by Izabella Simon will also take place. Musicians of the orchestra are joined by Hungarian conductors such as one of the most pivotal figures of the historically informed performance practice, György Vashegyi, and Gábor Takács-Nagy, who feels particularly close to Mozart’s music.
