Jazzation
Jazzation: Katus Várallyay, Sára Bolyki, Gina Kanizsa, Barnabás Bolyki, Máté Homor (vocals)
Five singers, four albums, three ladies, and two gentlemen: in the words of Peder Karlsson, this is the shockingly talented Hungarian jazz a cappella group, Jazzation. This Budapest-based ensemble has already won the hearts of juries at the most prestigious international competitions, returning with first-place prizes from Graz, Pinerolo, Leipzig, and Aarhus in recent years. During their traditional concert at the Liszt Academy between the Christmas holidays, Jazzation will focus on a repertoire inspired by folk music. Just as the light reborn after the solstice illuminates the time ahead, the eternal present of performing arts connects the past with the future. The evening will also feature a world premiere: Sára Bolyki’s Triptych, exploring the duality of light and darkness, based on melodies from Szék, Szászcsávás, and Gyimes (in Transylvania), will be performed for the first time.
Between 15 and 31 May 2024, we offer a 15% discount on all concerts after 1 September, regardless of quantity.
