The person who launched opera on its all-conquering path. The composer who dared go against tradition. The revolutionary for whom it was far from irrelevant what the libretto of a given piece of music was about. This is Claudio Monteverdi, the Tivadar Puskás (inventor of the telephone exchange) of Baroque music, the first inventor of the spring season of Liszt Kidz Academy. At this season-opening matinee, musicologist Dániel Mona introduces – in partnership with Saint Ephraim Male Choir, one of the most experienced Hungarian ensembles in the area of choral music from earlier centuries – what choral singing was like pre-Monteverdi, the essence of the originality of the Italian master and why his innovations still cause us to gasp in wonder. Animal noises, tears, shivering, laughter, all in the language of music, and of course the story of Orpheus who is prepared to descend into the underworld for his lover – Monteverdi knew exactly what the Liszt Kidz audience needs!
