General Information about the Entrance Examinations 2020
Dear Applicant,
Due to current pandemic situation, the entrance examinations at the Liszt Academy will take place in an unprecedented way in 2020 as applicants will not take the entrance exams in person. All teachers and applicants of the Academy have to face with the challenge that was aroused by the epidemic in Hungary. In the followings, applicants will be informed about the entrance examinations at the Liszt Academy in 2020.
The entrance examination admission requirements and way of examination for each course can be found here. Further information about way of examination and deadlines are the following.
I. Uploading video recordings
Video recordings must be uploaded online to the appropriate section on the following page: https://lfze.hu/uploading-application-recordings
Easy to identify file names are recommended.
Further technical requirements regarding the upload of video recording:
- At the beginning of the video recording, the applicant must present the page of their Passport/ID with their photo in a visible way.
- Acceptable format of the video recording: MP4. Sound recordings or video recordings in a different format will not be taken into account during assessment.
- The video recording must contain the unedited and uncut recording of the applicant’s programme. Editing, post-production of either image or sound are not allowed. Cutting is only allowed between pieces, in which case presenting identification document (preferably the passport you provided us) before the piece is necessary each time.
- In the video recording the applicant must always be in focus, their face and hands must be visible and in focus.
- The lighting of the video recording must focus on the applicant. Please avoid lightings that focus on the camera. If the applicant uses their instrument in the video recording, the instrument must be visible and audible. Please avoid any noise that might ruin the quality of the video recording.
The Liszt Academy has the right to verify the compliance of each video recording to the conditions mentioned above. The technical quality of the video recording will not be a significant factor during assessment.

II. Entrance examination through video conference
Those applicants who must have oral examinations through video conference will be informed of the detailed date and time of the exam by the Study Department of the Liszt Academy. The video conferences will be held through Skype. In case the applicant does not have a Skype account, make sure to download it and sign up to it. The applicant must create a user name that consists of their last name and first name for easier identification. The applicant must sign up with the email address that they submitted in the application form.
At the beginning of the oral examination, the applicant must identify themselves, by showing their ID or passport. The video conference must be maintained visually and audibly by the applicant to ensure that they answer the questions without any help. Using headphones or headsets during the video conference is not allowed. Recording the video conference is not allowed, the Liszt Academy will not record the video conference either.
III. Deadlines and examination dates:
1. Classical Instruments and Classical Singing:
- Uploading the video recording of entrance examination programme of main subject: 5 June 2020 24:00.
- Oral examinations (video conferences) start from 16 June 2020 (the applicants will be informed of the exact date and time in the invitation letter).
2. Composition:
- Solfége and Music Theory (oral examinations) between 26 May – 2 June 2020.
- Applicants who passed the oral examination of Solfége and Music Theory must upload the entrance examination programme of main subject between 3 – 7 June 2020.
- Folk Music oral examination: 8 – 9 June 2020.
3. Orchestral and Choral Conducting:
- Secondary piano and singing programme must be uploaded until 25 May 2020 24:00.
- Oral examinations (video conferences) will be between 26 May – 9 June 2020 (the applicants will be informed of the exact date and time in the invitation letter).
- The entrance examination programme of main subject must be uploaded until 15 June 2020 24:00.
4. Jazz Studies:
- Uploading the video recording of entrance examination programme of main subject: 25 May 2020 24:00.
- Oral examination (admission examination in English) between 8 – 12 June 2020 (the applicants will be informed of the exact date and time in the invitation letter).
