Postgraduate University Programmes
Besides the Doctoral School the Liszt Academy offers three more postgraduate study programmes:
- One-year Soloist Programme for Pianists
- Postgraduate Specialist Training Programme in Chamber Music Performance
- Postgraduate Specialist Training Programme in Historical Performance
One-year Soloist Programme for Pianists
Objectives:
- to improve skills needed for a soloist career
- to develop and widen solo repertoire (especially concertos)
- to have an insight of the highly difficult piano chamber music works
- to improve self-management skills
Eligibility:
- degree in a classical instrumental music performer master's programme (piano principal study) or a one-tier university-level study programme awarding qualification as a pianist and piano teacher; highest grade for diploma concert
- superior artistic and performance skills
- superior technique
- superior concentration skills
- fully dedicated personality
Postgraduate Specialist Training Programme in Chamber Music Performance
The aim of the programme is to train chamber musicians who – on the basis of their existing MA-level musical mastery and skills, and by means of having thoroughly studied various aspects of the chamber music repertoire and performance, having developed a sensitivity and ability to cooperate with their ensemble partners and engage in meaningful musical dialogues with them, as well as having acquired experience in arts management with regard to chamber music performance in the course of their studies – can participate in Hungarian and international music life as highly trained artists specialized in chamber music performance.
The application is open only to already existing chamber ensembles, or ensembles formed specially for the programme. The following formations are accepted:
- Violin and Piano Duo
- Viola and Piano Duo
- Cello and Piano Duo
- Violin and Cello Duo
- Violin, Cello, Piano Trio
- Violin, Viola, Cello Trio
- String Quartet
- String Sextet
- Piano Quartet
- Piano Quintet
- Piano Duo of two Pianos
- Piano Four Hands
Postgraduate Specialist Training Programme in Historical Performance
The programme is primarily recommended for applicants who have already studied historical music to a certain degree (e.g. completing secondary instrument class in the respective field in a previous study programme) or those who have professional experience.
The programme consists of vocal or instrumental main subject, repertoire studies, chamber music, orchestra or choir practice and a few theory classes, and it ends with a diploma concert.
Participants receive a certificate (diploma), and obtain the qualification historical performer (instrument/voice).
