The Liszt Academy announces the Davison Young Musicians Foundation National Brass Competition

The Brass Sub-Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music will organize the first “DYMF” national brass instrument competition on 17 October 2024.

The primary goal of the competition is to offer a prestigious competition for university age students of all brass instruments to compete for a significant prize money.

10:00 Thursday 17 October 2024 | Liszt Academy Main Building (H-1061 Budapest, Liszt Ferenc tér 8.), Room X

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Hungarian or foreign students who either study at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music or another Hungarian musical higher education institution in a BA, artist MA or one-tier MA programme.

At the same time, trumpet students can also enter the Davison Young Musicians Foundation National Trumpet Competition where trumpets will be awarded to the winners.

25 September – 5 October 2024

Number of participants: maximum 25 persons in order of application

 

CONDITIONS:

Travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the participants.

Prizes:

The total prize money of the competition is 900 000,- HUF.

  • First prize: 400 000,- HUF
  • Second prize 300 000,- HUF
  • Third prize 200 000,- HUF

The jury reserves the right to either divide or decline to hand out certain awards.

 

CATEGORIES: 

University students (BA and MA students together)

 

AUDITION MATERIALS:

Maximum 15 minutes

1st piece
Baroque Concerto or Sonata: two different movement
(The two movements must be choosen from the same composition. One slow and one fast)

2nd piece
Hungarian composition written after 1950.

 

The pieces can be played by score

On request piano accompaniment will be provided

 

IMPORTANT: For university trumpet students, the same repertoire cannot be played in the DYMF National Trumpet Competition “Piccolo trumpet” category.
