The doctoral dissertation focuses on the development of accordion transcriptions, with special attention to the historical evolution of the instrument's repertoire. The research thoroughly analyzes the position of the accordion—a relatively young instrument—within the classical music repertoire, as well as the emergence and evolution of the culture of transcriptions throughout music history.
The dissertation highlights the connections between the accordion and other instruments, examining how various musical styles and forms have influenced the creation of accordion transcriptions.
In addition, the research includes original transcriptions by the author, featuring works adapted from piano, harpsichord, organ, and earlier types of accordions. These transcriptions not only enrich the interpretative possibilities of the instrument but also serve as examples of how classical works can be reinterpreted and reimagined for the accordion.
The goal of the doctoral dissertation is to contribute to the advancement and popularization of accordion education in Hungary and to encourage composers to write new works for the instrument.
