The master class on 25 October is open only to students of the Liszt Academy, while on 26 and 27 October the master class is open to external passive participants.

Active participants:

  • Only Liszt Academy horn students can attend the master class as active participants, please may apply using the application form below.

Passive participants:

  • The course is also open for external passive participants. Admission to the event for passive participants is free, but previous registration is required.

  • You can apply by filling out the online form below.

  • The registration is required to enter the building; we cannot admit non-registrants or those who apply after the deadline.

  • The numbers of passive participants depend on the capacity of the room.

  • The University does not issue course certificates to passive participants.

Szilvia Pápai

Szilvia Pápai, born in Zalaegerszeg (Hungary), received her first oboe lessons from her mother when she was 9 years old.

She continued her high school studies at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music in Budapest as a student of János Kemény, then completed her music studies at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy as a student of Péter Pongrácz and József Kiss.

During his college years, he was a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under the direction of Claudio Abbado for several years.

From 1998 Szilvia Pápai was a scholarship holder of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic for 2 years, then she was elected to the Konzerthausorchester Berlin as solo oboist.

 

Dominik Wollenweber

Born in Munich in 1967, he studied oboe at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with Simon Dent.

1991-1993 he continued his education as a scholarship holder of the orchestra academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker with Hansjörg Schellenberger. During this time he also appeared as principal oboist in the EU Youth Symphony Orchestra (EUYO) under Claudio Abbado.

In addition to a few smaller prizes, he was awarded the sponsorship prize of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture in 1992.

In 1996 he was a prizewinner for oboe at the ARD competition in Munich.

Since 1993 he has been principal cor anglais with the Berliner Philharmoniker.

From 1998 he was woodwind lecturer in the Mahler youth orchestra GMJO for 10 years.

In 2000 Dominik Wollenweber received a guest professorship for oboe at the Hanns-Eisler-Musikhochschule in Berlin.

Numerous students from his oboe class play in renowned top orchestras or have won prizes in international competitions.
