Trevor Wishart electronic composing masterclasses
Trevor Wishart, the internationally renowned pioneer of electroacoustic music, will be visiting Budapest between the 14th and the 16th of May for a two-day masterclass at the Liszt Academy. Wishart's work has fundamentally shaped the aesthetics and technology of electronic sound composition, combining the musical possibilities of the spoken voice, computer synthesis and the experience of spatiality. The highlight of the visit will be the premiere of his eight-channel electroacoustic opera Garden of Earthly Delights, inspired by the imagery of Hieronymus Bosch, at the Budapest Music Center on 16 May 2025, a rare opportunity to experience first-hand a unique work of his life, known for pioneering works such as Red Bird, Globalalia and Encounters in the Republic of Heaven, which brought not only aesthetic but also technological innovation. Wishart is a pioneer not only as a composer but also as a thinker: his books and software have shaped generations of people's ideas about electroacoustic music. To meet him and hear a live performance of such a work is a real privilege for any composer or listener.
