Chamber Music Department to Hold String Quartet Audition
The Chamber Music Department of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music is announcing an audition for string quartets between 10.00 and 13.00 on 5 December 2022 in the Auditorium (Room I) of the Main Building (LF8).
Who is the announcement for?
We are looking for the application of violinists, violists, and cellists (individually) who have long-term plans to participate in a quartet but have not found suitable partners yet, and are in need of feedback, guidance from experience quartet players.
The audition is conducted with the help of Kodály Quartet. The applicants shall play the material of the audition with the members of Kodály Quartet which is followed by a short workshop. The members of the jury shall consist of professors of the Chamber Music Department and the member of the Kodály Quartet who is not participating in the given performance.
The material of the audition:
1st violin:
Mozart: String Quartet in B flat major, KV 458 'Jagd' – 1st movement, exposition
2nd violin:
Mendelssohn: String Quartet in D major, Op. 44, No.3, bars 1-78
Viola:
Dvořák: String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, 1st movement, until the 7th rehearsal marking
Cello:
Dvořák: String Quartet in F major, Op. 96, 2nd movement, until the 4th rehearsal marking
After the audition personal consultation is available. For students with the best performance, a jury consisting of professors from the Chamber Music Department and members of the Kodály Quartet shall propose how to organize the string quartet(s) and their work plan, after which the quartet may receive mentoring and concert opportunities from the Liszt Academy until 31 December, 2023.
