Repertoire and curriculum of the Study of Orchestral Parts subject
For violin, viola, double bass principal studies
Compulsory subject, one class/week, semester grade

Goal of the subject:

Firstly, mastering a general study of orchestral parts, during which the student becomes familiar with sections of the orchestral parts of the student’s instrument from prominent pieces of the orchestral literature, which are the most important for the given instrument and that are most frequently brought up in orchestral practices and tend to be challenging in terms of technique and musical expression. This prepares the student for successful participation in orchestral practices.

Secondly, the students can receive help with the performance details and the correct technical and musical realization of more difficult orchestral parts from the current programme of the Academy’s orchestra.

Curriculum of the subject:

The study and mastery of strings parts and sections of parts from prominent pieces of the symphonic orchestra literature, which require more extensive practice and preparation.

Getting experience in participating in the orchestra’s work; improving the instrumental performance needed for the unique (professional, disciplinary) requirements of ensemble performance within the parts and for the whole orchestra.

The list of the sections of parts to be learned can be found below with the movements indicated, grouped by instrument and semester.
