Reporting Maintenance Issues in the Main Building

Technical Director’s Circular Nr. 5/2019 on Reporting Maintenance Issues in the Main Building (8 Liszt Ferenc Square) of the Liszt Academy

A permanent maintenance staff is employed by the Technical and Asset Management Directorate, and their task is to ensure the continuous and safe operation of our facilities in Budapest. They work on the basis of a weekly maintenance schedule, but they also handle unexpected problems. There is also a permanent cleaning service in each of our buildings, and the cleaning staff can also handle issues following notifications received during the day. The pianos are tuned on a weekly basis, as well, by maintenance staff who can also respond immediately to error reports in urgent cases. The purpose of the measure is to detect and rectify operational failures and defects discovered during the use of the building that affect intended use or academic work, as soon as possible. It is important that these notifications are sorted into categories so that operative staff in charge assigned to the given task can immediately act, and that the work carried out by external contractors can be evaluated on the basis of their actual performance, thereby helping the Technical and Asset Management Directorate's operation.

From 1 April 2019, we are awaiting comments and error reports at the following new email addresses:

  • cleaning@zeneakademia.hu – Please use this address for cleaning issues.
  • maintenance@zeneakademia.hu – Please write here with regard to maintenance issues.
  • piano@zeneakademia.hu – Please report piano tuning issues and instrument errors here.

Furthermore, it is important that the errors can be correctly identified, therefore it is necessary to indicate the place of the error (room number, floor, women's/men's room, etc.) and to include a short description of the error.

Example: if the soap dispenser in the washroom is leaking, that is a maintenance issue; if the soap dispenser is empty, that is a cleaning issue.

The key to efficient operation of the Technical and Asset Management Directorate is that the users of the building always carry out their duties with one eye on the condition of the building, and report their observations. Our cooperation and attention will result in the preservation of our most important building for many years in its utmost beauty.
