The Liszt Academy functions both as a university and a concert center, with these two profiles mutually reinforcing each other. Students can participate in study projects that culminate in public performances. The institution trains them not only as soloists but also as orchestral musicians, giving special emphasis to symphonic and chamber orchestra projects in the education process. For several years now, undergraduate students have also been undertaking string orchestra studies, and it is these students we will hear at this concert. The training involves both practical and theoretical knowledge, provided by instructors from the Chamber Music Department as well as the Music Theory Department. The conductor for the evening is Gergely Ménesi, a recipient of the Lajtha Prize, who has been leading the university’s symphony orchestra since 2013.
