Cello MA Course Description

1. semester

The repertoire covered can be chosen freely by the candidate based upon their interests (ex. Baroque genre) and/or based on repertoire needed for an international competition.

Candidate is expected to display good tone and intonnation, as well as posess thorough knowledge of the cello repertoire. The goal is for the candidates to be able to perform beyond the walls of the practice rooms and prepare for performances in a large concert hall (Leó Weiner's teaching principle)

One must be able to perform fast passages expressively, with proper articulation, and accuracy. Playing the correct notes is not enough, the candidate must learn to perform the music.
