Major concerts, orchestral membership:
He was the first trumpet soloist worldwide to be invited to perform the trumpet concertos of Michael Haydn at the Salzburg Festival in 2004. He regularly gives guest performances at renowned concert halls such as the Musikverein Vienna, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Salle Gaveau and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, KKL Lucerne, or the Palace of Arts in Budapest. Furthermore, he has followed concert invitations to several cities in South America and China.
Besides his classical repertoire, Gábor Boldoczki has been in demand for contemporary music and their world premiere performances. In 2006 he accompanied Gidon Kremer and the Kremerata Baltica for the world premiere of Georg Pelecis’ “Revelation“ at the music festival “Les muséiques” in Basel. He premiered the Trumpet Concerto by Boris Papandopulo at the International Music Festival in Dubrovnik as well as László Dubrovay’s Trumpet Concerto No. 2 in Budapest in 2003. In the summer of 2010 he performed as an “Artist in Residency” at the Festival Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and in December 2010 he made his debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Yakov Kreizberg.
In 2015 he gave the world premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki’s first trumpet concerto at the Musikfestspiele Saar.
Recordings:
Boldoczki‘s Shostakovich recording for piano, trumpet and orchestra partnered by the Gulbenkian Orchestra led by Lawrence Foster and the pianist Lise de la Salle was selected by the Gramophone Magazine as "Disc of the Month" in April 2008.
His versatile repertoire ranges from Bach to Penderecki, from Vivaldi to Shostakovich to Hindemith, Takemitsu, Ligeti and Arvo Pärt.
