His students regularly participate and achieve remarkable successes in national and international competitions: they won first prize at the Hungarian National Brasswind and Percussion Competition for Universities in Debrecen in 2005 and fourth place at the International Brasswind Competition in Brno in 2006; Gergely Opauszki was one of the winners of the Liszt Academy’s in-house competition in 2007 and after graduation he was admitted to the MA program of the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica; his students took first prize at the Hungarian National Horn Competition for Secondary Schools in 2009.
Major concerts, orchestral membership:
Since 1983 he has been principal horn of the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra.
For more than two decades, he has been featuring in CD recordings as a member and solo horn of the Hungarian Radio Symphonic Orchestra, and has participated in concerts tours around the world.
Awards and honors:
As a university student he was awarded at several national and international competitions.
The Anonymous Brass Quintet Hungary, of which he was one of the founders, won the first prize in two categories at the International Chamber Music Competition in Ancona in 1982.
Other international wins of the Anonymous Brass Quintet include the first prize at the ‘Maurice André’ International Brasswind Quintet Competition in 1986.
