The pianist, musical director, Liszt Academy department head, Tibor Erkel passed away at age of 83, on Saturday 28 January, 2017. His achievements were also recognised with the Knight of Cross from the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic.

In December, another three European cities had the opportunity to host the programme series which came about within the framework of the cooperation initiative of the Liszt Academy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Three new cities have joined the list of sites celebrating Bartók’s oeuvre with festive events: some of the academic staff and students of the Liszt Academy visited Berlin, Warsaw and Vienna to divulge the secrets of Bartók’s music through workshops and give concerts featuring Bartók and his followers.

The most recent site of the international programme series ’Bartók-135’ was the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, where the Liszt Academy was welcome with the sequel to its former project series ’Reflections’; this time focussing on Bartók’s works.
