András Gelléri won first prize in Vienna
The composition competition of the Alban Berg Stiftung piano trio resulted in two winners from among the German, Canadian, Hungarian, Iranian, Slovenian and Austrian contestants: Elias Jurgschat from Germany and András Gelléri, MA first year student of composition at the Liszt Academy (Prof. Péter Tornyai’s student) were awarded first prize and granted EUR 5000 each, the latter for his composition titled Straße.
“András Gelléri has convinced the jury with his lively approach, differentiated rhythm work, and endeavour to create a balance between the instruments.” – jury members Beat Furrer and Johannes Maria Staud praised the young composer’s submission.
The winning composition is performed by Boulanger Trio from Berlin on 7 November 2019 at the Wiener Konzerthaus, as a programme of the Wien Modern 2019 Festival.
