Andrea Brassói-Jőrös winning joint grand prize at Armel Song Competition

The Song Competition of the ten-year old Armel Opera Festival is dedicated to Hungarian performers. According to the call of the competition, the official theme song of the Armel Opera Festival was to be recorded with Hungarian lyrics written by Dusán Sztevanovity. The winners were announced at the Liszt Academy on Sunday. The jury selected the winning duet from the productions of five male and five female singers. Both awardees receive a sum of a million Forints and have the opportunity to perform the song at the jubilee gala of the Armel Opera Festival in Thalia Theatre on 4 July, accompanied by the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra.

Andrea Brassói-Jőrös started her music studies at the Department of Piano at Visk Art School , then went on to the Debrecen Zoltán Kodály Conservatory to study voice and piano; she received her degree in vocal studies at the Faculty of Music at Debrecen University in 2014. Presently, she is in her 1st year of the M.A. programme of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. She has participated in masterclasses of such highly renowned singers as Magda Nádor, Júlia Hamari and Yevgeny Nesterenko. At the 4th International József Simándy Singing Competition in 2010, she was granted a special prize in her age group. In 2013, she took part as a soprano soloist in the VerdiFeszten organised in Debrecen. In the season 2013–14, she covered the role of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Csokonai National Theatre in the same city. In January, 2015, she sang Giuilia in Rossini’s La Scala di Seta at the Sitcom Opera Exam Festival in the Solti Hall of the Liszt Academy.
