Cimbalom Master Course by Daniel Skála

Daniel Skála, one of the leading professional dulcimer performers, who have been awarded several prizes at various international music competitions, is holding a dulcimer master course for the students of Liszt Academy on 24-25th of April 2014.

Daniel graduated in dulcimer at the Ferenc Liszt Academy in Budapest; his professor was Ilona Szeverényi, than studied choir mastering at the University of Ostrava and at the Conservatoire of Ostrava, where he studied music composition in addition. In 2013 finished Ph.D on University of Ostrava in field of Music Theory and Pedagogy. Since 2008, he teaches cimbalom at the Janáček Conservatory and Lyceum in Ostrava.

Among his many competition achievements we can name participation on the International Interpretive Competition where he acquired first place in his category, for four times. In the international interpretative competition "Eurotalent 2000" in Banská Bystrica he acquired the prestigious third place.

Daniel regularly performs in different cities of Czech Republic as well as abroad, and cooperates with major Czech and European orchestras. He mainly focuses on Baroque and on contemporary music.

During concerts and public performances he also presents his own music compositions.
He performs solo, in various chamber formations and co-operates with leading Czech and international orchestras.

Daniel Skála currently works with two Folk Songs and Dances Ensemble, and focusing on an authentic interpretation of the songs and dances from the cultural regions of Check Republic.

The master course of Daniel Skála will be available in active and passive status as well.
