Topic of the masterclass:
Clarinet playing in the symphony orchestra; aspects of the orchestral playing and preparation for an audition.
During the course Wenzel Fuchs will hold a lecture about particular aspects of the orchestral playing, requirements and expectations towards the orchestral musicians, methods for a successful practical and mental preparation for an audition. Afterwards the active participants will have the opportunity to have individual lessons. At the end of the masterclass we'll organize an audition to simulate the real conditions as a test for the students, who'll get an evaluation of their performance. Finally, there will be a possibility for individual consultation and informal conversation.

In relation to the masterclass, on 11 December, an exhibition is organized of clarinet mouthpieces and accessoriess made by the austrian producer Nick Kückmeier. The products can also be tested in the breaks of the masterclass, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Only students of the Liszt Academy can apply as active participants, but as passive audience anybody can participate.
The masterclass is free for students of the Liszt Academy and of the Bartók Conservatory. For other participants the entrance fee is 2500 HUF/day. The Academy can issue a certificate of attendance upon request.

The Austrian clarinetist, Wenzel Fuchs is one of the most renowned artists of Mozart's favourite instrument. He is principal clarinet of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and beside his orchestral career he's a famous soloist and chamber musician as well. He held a professorship at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, and now he teaches in the Orchestra Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He holds masterclasses all around the world.
