The Hungarian-Romanian clarinetist Tibor Reman was born in 1981. He studied at the "Gh.Dima" Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, later at the "Fr. Liszt" Music University in Budapest, Hungary and at the Universität der Künste Berlin, in the solo class of Prof.Francois Benda. During his musical studies he was prizewinner at several international competitions,such as: "Jeunesses Musicales" International Clarinet Competition Bucharest,"Wiener Classic Prize" International Woodwind Competition in Austria, Yamaha Germany Woodwind Competition Mannheim,etc.. He also won the scholarschip for the Orchestra-Academy of the Berlin State Opera Orchestra. Starting this period he plays on the german clarinet system. He started his exceptional orchestral carreer as an assistant principal clarinetist in the Budapest Festival Orchestra. He continued as an assistant principal clarinet at the State Opera in Hannover, Germany. He was principal clarinetist of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, and starting 2010 he holds the prestigious principal-clarinet position of the Berlin State Opera (Staatskapelle Berlin). With his orchestra he plays in the greatest concert-halls and festivals of the world under the baton of famous conductors like Daniel Barenboim,(chief conductor of the Staatskapelle Berlin),Simon Rattle,Zubin Mehta,Andris Nelsons,Gustavo Dudamel,etc. and he can be heard as principal clarinetist on recordings for CD-labels such as Deutche Grammophon and Decca. Tibor Reman playes regularly chamber music with internationally renowned musicians and with soloists of leading german symphony orchestras. Highlights of his concert-carreer were duo and trio concerts together with Daniel Barenboim as part of the "Barenboim-Cycles" in the Schiller-Theater Berlin. Tibor Reman teaches clarinet at the Universität der Künste Berlin and is mentor of the Orchestra-Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin. For his outstanding concert activity he was awarded with the 'Sándor Végh' prize by the Romanian Mozart Association. He currently lives in Berlin with his wife, the Hungarian-Romanian violinist, Marta Murvai.
