Competition success for Bence Bánkövi in Kraków
Bence Bánkövi, third year student at the Liszt Academy (main subject professor: Csaba Onczay) was the only Hungarian contestant representing the University at the 3rd International Krzysztof Penderecki Cello Competition held 9-16 December 2018 in Kraków, Poland.
Bánkövi came fourth in the prestigious and high-standard competition consisting of three rounds, performing a difficult programme, in an incredibly competitive field. In the last round he performed Haydn’s Cello Concerto in C major, and Pendereczki's concerto from 1984.
Members of the international jury were: Zdzisław Łapiński (Poland), Julius Berger (Germany), Jiwu Li (China), Ivan Monighetti (Russia/Switzerland), Arto Noras (Finland), Csaba Onczay (Hungary), Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt (Germany).
