Cooperation between the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra continues

9 June 2022

The Masterpiece programme will be launched again, with students being notified of their application in Neptune, and those selected by audition will be able to perform with the orchestra.

Last year, the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra entered into a long-term cooperation to support education. In the first season of the Masterpiece project, which is now coming to an end, the ensemble offered 25 students the opportunity to join the workshop after the audition in September 2021, out of 60 applicants. The participants have had the opportunity to play with world-renowned musicians in 9 concerts and to participate in the orchestra's tour of Spain in May and Germany in July.

Becoming an orchestral artist is the key word in the Masterpiece programme, which is a complementary element of classical music education in Hungary, aiming to equip the artists who would go on to become the defining artists of later decades with practical knowledge. The project will also have an impact on the chamber orchestra's repertoire, as they will have to prepare works that give them scope to involve young artists.

Over the years, a strong bond has developed between the orchestra and the university, as the founding members of the chamber orchestra were former students of the Liszt Academy, and the orchestra is currently still led by a musician who teaches at the institution.

The programme will be announced again in May 2022 and the student community will be informed about it through the Neptun system. The management of both the Liszt Academy and the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra hope that many new young talents will take advantage of this opportunity in the coming season and will continue to have the chance to perform.
