Excellent performances at a competition in Slovakia
At the prestigious international bagpipe competition ''Gajdovačka'', Dávid Király, newly appointed lecturer at the Folk Music Department, won first prize, while students Csongor Mokos came second and Levente Dobos was awarded with a special prize.
Held in Oravská Polhora, the ''Gajdovačka'' Medzinárodný gajdošský festival has been a major cultural bagpipe event in the region since 2003. Among others, Ing. Michal Strna, mayor of Oravská Polhora, and Ing. Milan Rusko, PhD., first master of the Slovak bagpipe guild, are involved in organising the program. Dávid Király, newly appointed lecturer at the Liszt Academy won first place in the competition, Csongor Mokos, a student in the Folk Music Department, came in second, and Levente Dobos, also a student of the university, received a special award for his outstanding playing technique.
