János Balázs, teacher at the Liszt Academy, receives Young Steinway Artist Prize
The distinguished title of Young Steinway Artist was awarded in Hamburg to János Balázs Kossuth Prize-winning pianist, teacher at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, whose talent received high praise from the artistic director of the company at the ceremony.
“I rarely meet a piano artist who has unlimited abilities and who performs with ease even the most complex works. This is one of the most beautiful moments of my time at Steinway” – said Gerrit Glaner, artistic director of the acclaimed piano manufacturer at the Hamburg premises, where he presented the Young Steinway Artist title to János Balázs, teacher of the Academy of Music. The recognition was created to recognize world-renowned Steinway artists, specifically pianists between the ages of 16 and 35, making the Hungarian performer an ambassador for the illustrious brand.
János Balázs has won several competitions, and besides the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, he is also an instructor at the Snétberger Center. He founded the Cziffra Festival in 2016 to nurture the intellectual legacy of György Cziffra and to support young talents. The art of János Balázs was recognized in 2015 with the Liszt Ferenc Prize, and in 2018 with the Kossuth Prize.
