Márton Szőcs won 3rd prize at the Generation International Competition for Composers
Prizes were awarded in two categories at the competition held on 19 March 2019, by the international jury consisting of Milan Báchorek, Ivan Kurz, Hanuš Bartoň, Vít Zouhar (Czechia), Alexander Lasoń (Poland), Jevgenij Iršai (Slovakia) and László Tihanyi (Hungary). In the 1st age group (for composers under 30), MA 2nd year student of composition Márton Szőcs won shared 3rd prize with his composition titled Hangzók (main subject professor: László Vidovszky). In the 2nd age group (for composers under 21), BA 2nd year student of composition Patrik Gergő Oláh received praise for his composition titled Intermezzo (main subject professor: Gyula Fekete). “The Generation Competition is the most prestigious competition for composers in Central Europe, where students from music academies of the area can compete with each other. It is a great achievement just to be a finalist of it”, Gyula Fekete Vice-President of Research and International Affairs, and Head of the Composition Department expressed.
