Our students achieved top placings at the Generace Composition Competition

Two students of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music have excelled at this year's Generace Composition Competition in Ostrava, Czech Republic, a competition of the Visegrád Four music academies.

The Hungarian jury member was László Tihanyi, who was joined by Czech composers Milan Báchorek, Ivan Kurz, Hanuš Bartoň and Vít Zouhar, Polish composer Alexander Lasoń and Slovakian composer Jevgenij Iršai.

A record 86 entries were received for this year's competition, which was held online on 29th March. The final ranking in each category was determined by the panel's scoring. According to this, two students from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music won prizes in the field of composers aged 30 and under: third place went to Dániel Lázár MA student of music and composition teaching (main subject professors: Zsolt Serei, Péter Tornyai) with his composition Melodic atmospheres, and 1st place in the category of composers aged 21 and under. Csenge Mihalicza, BA 3rd year student of composition (main subject professors: Judit Varga, Péter Tornyai) won the 1st prize with her composition entitled Hat zongoradarab (Six piano pieces).

The winning compositions will be performed in concert on 2nd June.
