September Masterclasses at the Liszt Academy
Rivka Golani, Davide Garattini and members of the Holland Baroque Society will be guest teachers at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
On 21 September 2014 the Holland Baroque Society will give a concert in the Liszt Academy Grand Hall. Additionally they will be hosting a workshop on Saturday 20 September commencing at 19.00 in the Liszt Academy's Cupola Hall. At the workshop, the ensemble will introduce themselves, then after a short lecture will begin work with the participants on the pre-agreed programme and on developing sight-reading and ensemble performance skills. The participants of the workshop can also attend the group's principal rehearsal the next day which is scheduled for 13.00 – 16.30 on 21 September in the Liszt Academy Grand Hall.
We are inviting applications from musicians with historic music performance experience and their own instruments to take part in a workshop, studying parts for baroque violin, viola and continuo. The deadline for applications is 12.00, Friday, September 12. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come basis. The materials to be studied will be selected according to the list of applicants, and will be sent to participants in the week starting 15 September 2014. We would like to request that in the interest of enjoyable work, all participants should arrive properly prepared. The workshop is free and open to all who would like to just observe. In September 2014, two viola teachers from two of the world's most prestigious musical institutions, Trinity College London and the Liszt Academy, Rivka Golani and Péter Bársony will be holding a joint masterclass in Budapest at the Liszt Academy. Péter Bársony and László Bársony, who both teach at our university, will be working with the London students on 24 September between 13.00 and 20.00 while on 26 September between 13.00 and 20.00 Rivka Golani will be teaching the Hungarian students. The venue for the course will be Room 23 in the Liszt Academy. The course is open and free for observers. The teachers and students look forward to welcoming you to their concert which rounds off the course. The audience will be treated to some of the finest gems of the 20th and 21st century viola repertoire. Davide Garattini
From 10.00 on 19 September as part of the First International Éva Marton Singing Competition, the Italian opera director Davide Garattini will be leading a masterclass for the quarter-finalists of the competition and students of the solo vocal faculty. It will be held in Room 10 of the Liszt Academy building. Observers are welcome and entry is free.
