State award for our President, as well as current and former lecturers of the Liszt Academy
On the occasion of the national holiday on 15 March, in memory of the 1848–49 Revolution and War of Independence, several current and former lecturers of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music received state honours: Dénes Várjon, Csaba János Somos, Katalin Hraschek, Péter Erdei, Gábor Bretz, Vilmos Szabadi, Dr. Andrea Vigh and István Ruppert.
The President of the Republic presented the Kossuth Prize to Dénes Várjon, Liszt Prize-winning pianist, former lecturer at the Liszt Academy, and artistic director of the annual kamara.hu chamber music festival held at the Liszt Academy.
The head of state presented the civilian award of the Knight's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit to Liszt Prize-winning conductor, and professor of the Liszt Academy of Music Csaba János Somos.
Music teacher, conductor, and former professor Katalin Hraschek received the Hungarian Gold Cross of Honour.
Liszt Prize-winning conductor and lecturer at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét Péter Erdei received the title of Excellent Artist. Liszt Prize-winning opera singer and assistant professor at the Liszt Academy Gábor Bretz, Liszt Prize-winning violinist and associate professor at the Liszt Academy Vilmos Szabadi, Liszt Prize-winning harp artist, professor and rector of the Liszt Academy Dr. Andrea Vigh received the title of Merited Artist.
Organist and assistant professor of the university István Ruppert was awarded the Ferenc Liszt Prize.
