Student of the Liszt Academy wins award and performs in New York
Nadin Varga, a composition student at the Liszt Academy, placed in two categories at the International Youth Music Competitions series, and one of her works was performed at the awards ceremony.
The international competition allows participants to enter different categories each month. Nadin Varga qualified in one of the monthly competitions for the year-end event, where placements are awarded by age group and category.
In this 'Artist of the Year' competition, the student of the Liszt Academy competed in two categories in the senior age group. Her piece Föltámadott a tenger (The Sea Has Risen) won the Vocal and Choral Music category as the overall winner, while her clarinet-piano composition Török Tangó (Turkish Tango) was named "first runner-up" in the Instrumental Music category, the second-highest result.
The awards ceremony was recently held in New York, where the winning pieces were performed as part of the prize. Nadin Varga performed Török Tangó with Zsombor Barkóczy. A few days later, she also gave a solo concert at the Hungarian Consulate, organized by Virtuosos and the New York Liszt Institute.
