Successful performance of Liszt Academy students at the 17th Ernő Dohnányi National Chamber Music Gathering and Competition
Over 50 young musicians, a total of twenty-one chamber music groups, participated in the 17th Ernő Dohnányi National Chamber Music Gathering and Competition at the Faculty of Music of the University of Debrecen.
The productions were evaluated by a three-member jury, who also held a consultation for the participants after the competition. The members of the jury, chaired by conductor Géza Török, were associate college professor Péter Masopust, and pianist and conductor Daniel Somogyi-Tóth.
The most talented ensembles were awarded a prestigious prize, a special prize of the jury and a special prize of the Rector.
Two ensembles from the Liszt Academy received recognition: Eszter Várallyay's, Emma Petruska's and Márton Mikulík's trio (Rita Wagner's students) received the outstanding prestigious prize for their performance of the Piano Trio in E-flat major Op. 1/1 by Beethoven, and Sándor Norbert's and Bertalan Robotka's duo received the prestigious price for Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in F minor Op. 120/1 by Brahms.
Márta Durst-Gál's quartet received the special prize of the Rector for outstanding choice of a performance piece.
