Teachers of the Liszt Academy awarded by Artisjus
Ten music teachers and ten performers received the Artisjus Prize in the Classical and Popular Music category on November 5. Artisjus recognized performers who regularly perform and popularize contemporary Hungarian works, as well as music teachers whose work is essential in the creation and performance of new Hungarian musical compositions.
With these two awards, established last year, the authors’ copyright management association wishes to thank dedicated popularisers of contemporary works. The awards are professional awards with cash rewards, and are awarded by the management team of the organization. The Artisjus Music Teacher Award honours music educators who, throughout their teaching careers, have placed a strong emphasis on the dissemination of contemporary Hungarian music, with a mission to ensure that emerging generations of musicians are able to natively understand contemporary Hungarian music. The Artisjus Prize for Performers is awarded to performers who focus on contemporary Hungarian works in their artistic activities and feel it is their mission to reach as wide an audience as possible.
In the category of performers, Dániel Serei, jazz drum teacher at the Bartók Béla Secondary School of Music, as well as pianist László Borbély and opera singer Andrea Meláth were given awards, among others. Ilona Szeverényi, a cymbal artist from the university, received the Music Teacher Award.
