Most of my research was conducted among the following peoples: Turks in Turkey (approx. 3000 songs), Azeris (600 songs), Karachayi in the Caucasus and in Turkey (1200 songs), Western and Mongolian Kazakhs (600 songs), Kyrgyz (1300 songs), Turkmen (500 songs) Native Americans in North America (700 songs) as well as in various Sufi communities (Bektashis, Alevi, etc.) (700 songs). My research interests also cover the folk music of some non-Turkic peoples, such as Tat, Tsakhur, Kurd, Jewish communities, etc. (approx. 1350 songs).
