The joint concert featuring students of the universities of Ljubljana and Zagreb, as well as the Liszt Academy, held on February 9 in Budapest, showed the general public that the notion of “brass band” covers so much more than military bands. The event was proof that brass bands boast rich classical traditions.

The portal of the EU HarMA (Harmony and Music Analysis) project is ready, and it is currently being tested and will soon be made public, according to an announcement after a meeting at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, one of the institutions participating in the project.

Aurés Moussong’s composition for percussion quartet “Desde el lugar del misterio" (From the place of the mystery) won “Prize Ibermúsicas for composition and work premiere 2022” at the prestigious Music Composition Contest.

Ten young talents were awarded the Junior Prima Prize in Music this year and the majority of the winners are current and former students of the Liszt Academy. The jury was chaired by Dr. Andrea Vigh, President of the university, and renowned faculty members sat on the panel.

The application system is now open for applicants wishing to pursue studies at the Liszt Academy with the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship in the academic year 2022/2023.
